Do you love a good story?
Me too. I’m Amy Paturel, an award-winning essayist and health science writer. For more than two decades, I’ve written articles that inform and inspire readers for outlets like The New York Times, Wired and The Cut. I also teach writers how to craft and publish essays and I’m working on a memoir.
Storytelling is my passion—writing what moves you and teaching YOU to do the same.

I also know her reporting will be insightful, thorough, well researched and so interesting to read!"

"Amy is hands-down one of my favorite writers to work with. Her article ideas are interesting and always spot on for our audience, her research is thorough, and her writing is engaging. With her health stories, she presents complicated ideas clearly, and with her essays, she is not afraid to dig deep and get real with readers. Her prose shines! And she never misses a deadline or balks at an editing request. Quite simply, Amy is a dream to work with—every single time."

"Amy's stories thread the needle between being excellent service pieces and also deeply personal, where often she offers readers tangible and actionable takeaways from her own personal experiences. Unlike many writers who focus on offering readers solutions to problems that she's faced, she doesn't lean entirely on her own authority either, bringing in the voices of experts and others who have been where she is and who have brilliant advice—and often assurance—that you feel and are appreciative of when you finish her work."
– Alan Henry, director, Special Projects, WIRED
“Amy is an absolute pleasure—and an outstanding science and wellness writer! Her pitches are as inventive and inspiring as they are thorough, and her drafts (which she diligently outlines) are assured, approachable, and a delight to read, sure to resonate with Discover’s readers. She’s committed, collaborative, and a wonderful person to work with, consistently delivering strong stories on deadline.”
